About
What this tool does
A blur and redact tool for screenshots. Before you share a screenshot of a dashboard, an email, or a terminal, there is usually something in it that should not travel: an email address, a token, a customer name. This tool lets you blur image regions or pixelate them in your browser and download a clean PNG.
Pixelation is the safer choice for text, because a heavy mosaic destroys the glyph shapes entirely. Blur is better for faces and photographs where you want the edit to look natural. Either way the effect is applied to the real pixels, not as a layer, so there is nothing to undo on the other end.
Reverse the selection to blur everything else and leave one area sharp, which is a quick way to build a focal point for a feature announcement or a tutorial step. The file is read locally and never uploaded, so the sensitive content stays on your device the entire time.

Questions
- A light blur on large text can sometimes be guessed. Use pixelate at a high strength for anything sensitive; it discards the detail rather than smearing it.
