    About

    What this tool does

Paste image to download solves a small, constant annoyance: an image is on your clipboard and you need it as a file. Screenshots copied with a keyboard shortcut, pictures copied from a web page, frames copied out of Figma or Keynote. Paste here and the file is written straight to your downloads folder.

The conversion happens in your browser. The pasted pixels are drawn onto a canvas at their original width and height and encoded as PNG, JPG or WebP, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is scaled. PNG keeps transparency and sharp edges, JPG is smallest for photos, and WebP is the compact choice for the web.

On a Mac, Windows PC or Chromebook the keyboard shortcut is all you need. On iPhone, iPad and Safari the paste event is not always delivered to a page, so there is a button that asks for clipboard access instead. Drag-and-drop and a file chooser are there too for images you already have on disk.

    Questions

The page needs keyboard focus: click anywhere on it first, then paste. On Safari and iOS use the Read clipboard button, which asks for permission and reads the image directly.
